In a weird way some of the trips I am making this year have a link to my roots. It started with Marseille, my mother’s hometown, and in June/July I have visited the French region of the Vendée, which is also the family cradle from my (maternal) grandfather’s side.
You always find the best spots when you least expect them, or even maybe, when you’re not focused on looking for them. In Catania you sort of let go of the idea of finding ‘hipster’ places, and right at that moment is when we’ve stumbled upon Streetfood.
Corso Italia is a more upscale street in Catania, at the other side of town. The place to be to spot the chic Catania locals is Caffe Europa, with its big terrace and even bigger choice of pastry…
There are still many cities for me to visit in Italy, though I believe Florence would end up in the top 3. It gathers history, art, fashion and authentic charm. Plus it is heaven for foodies!
