It’s not that fashionable being a Dutch fashionista. Especially when your name is Digitalista E./ Little Miss Jacobs (her nick name), who had to ride on her bike all the way to the centre of Amsterdam with her designer heels, little black dress and cute leopard coat on. And it was almost raining! But lucky her: the front row moment at the fashion show of Hans Ubbink made her day!
Sometimes I dream about living a life on stage. Once I was a part of the Spice Girls and I also hit the finale of Idols. I know, it’s weird, but in my dreams I always have an amazing voice and I’m not even talking about my dancing skills… Last night, I performed again in my dream. Not on a huge stage like I did with the Spice Girls. No, on a catwalk during Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Together with Digitalista E. and K. I was one of the models at the Daryl van Wouw show. Nice dream, huh?! Nooo! It was my worst nightmare. I suck modelling, aaah!
Time flies when you’re having fun. And we are about to have more fun and fashion in the new year, because Amsterdam International Fashion Week is on it’s way!
Not a lot of designers are honored with a standing ovation after their show, but Claes Iversen was lucky! The talented designer keeps surprising us with his elegant and modern collections. His detailling and craftmanship is impeccable, but he also struggles with being creative and having business-discipline at the same time. The object of that frustration translated into a Post-it.
After visiting Sensation 4 weeks ago ( Sensation is a huge house-party in Holland were all the people dress up in something white), the Digitaliastas screamed: never wear white on white! But after seeing the show of Individuals we are a little les negative. The young students of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute proved that white can be a very interesting and multifunctional color.
Fourteen young talents from seven different Dutch fashion academies showed their graduation collections at the Amsterdam Fashion Week during the Lichting 2009 show sponsored by G-star. The best talent won a price of 10.000 euros and a ticket to New York Fashion Week. Also two famous bloggers were part of the jury: Susanna Lau from Stylebubble and Garance Dore (more about them later on). The winner of the show was Ann Boogaerts. She created a bold collection with a classic but yet modern touch, completely inspired by the old Queen of Belgian: Queen Fabiola.
I almost missed the show of LEW. It was raining while I was riding on my bike, so I took a train, but it was very delayed…
Blue Blood is one of the many successful Dutch jeans labels. Their trousers are amazing, but most of the time their catwalk shows are a little bot boring. But not this year….With new designer Erik Frenken ( ex-designer of Viktor&Rolf menswear) the brand got a great and necessary boost!
