Looking outside is totally depressing …why can’t we just have a cold and dry winter? There’s no other alternative than to snuggle up inside with a blanky cardigan and a pair of warm UGG® Classics on our feet.
The UGG® Classics made a comeback. Well, actually, they’ve never left the building. In the past years many new shapes of the cosy sheepskin boots were introduced. However, we always have preferences for the timeless stuff, so the Classic it is!
To celebrate the Classics’ reintroduction, we were spoiled with the UGG® Classic Escape: a 3-course lunch, cooked up by two very talented chefs (Freek van Noortwijk and Guillaume de Beer from Guts&Glory), in the most fabulous mansion. The table setting really got us in a wonderful winter mood, let alone the food.
The menu consisted of an amuse -Tempura of nori with marinated salmon and horseradish cream-, a starter -Tuna tartare with a vinaigrette of dashi, turnip and garden peas on a cream of smoked mackerel, topped with herring caviar-, a main course -Fillet of beef with caramelized shallots, roasted leeks, beurre noisette of sambal and shaved black truffles-, and a dessert -Curd of Turkish yoghurt with meringue, yoghurt ice cream, calamansi juice and a drip of olive oil.
With full bellies, our chauffeurs for the day -driving Mercedes-S types with the best boombastic sound system playing our fave hip hop tunes- took us back to the city and we had to re-adapt to the rythm of the day. With warm feet now though.
