The latest newcomer to the Dutch beauty scene is Oolaboo, a “neutricosmedicals” company. Curious? The brand’s philosophy is based on linking inner and outer beauty using safe and natural products.
Oolaboo believes that radiant skin and beautiful hair aren’t possible only from just topical creams, but also require health from within. In fact, 70% of our skin condition is determined from the inside out, meaning only 30% of how your skin looks is determined by what you put on the surface.
Oolaboo has opened its first salon and spa on Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. I paid a visit last week to check it out, and was very impressed by what the brand has done. When you enter you’ll find a chic hair salon with a gorgeous black and white design concept. Hidden behind the salon is a treatment room for “ceremonies” – Oolaboo’s services – including facials, waxing and body treatments.
I tried the truffle indulgence face ceremony, which was a relaxing and rejuvenating treat for my tired and distressed skin. The summer heat had left my pores clogged, oily and in need of a deep clean! The truffle facial began with a decant hand wash – a great way to unwind –followed by a skin wash, grapefruit cleansing mask and eyebrow tweeze. My aesthetician also extracted my pores (never anyone’s favourite things to have done, but necessary!) and followed up with another calming mask to reduce redness and inflammation. While the mask soaked into my skin, she gave me and amazing massage for arms, neck, head and scalp, then finished with a protective oil and cream. Afterwards, I was amazed at how “glowing” my skin appeared, with almost no redness or irritation.
Oolaboo products are all made with ingredients found in nature. All “ceremonies” are designed with an east-meets-west approach, fusing Asian techniques and rituals (such as the hand wash) into the treatment. I really love this brand philosophy and for my next visit will definitely check out the salon … the bamboo, caviar and seaweed treatments have me curious!
Oolaboo products are available at a numer of salons across Holland (click here for a full list), and at the new flagship salon at Van Baerlestraat 148. Call 020-6644107 to book your appointment.
