The mega hit ‘Somebody that I used to know’ from Gotye is where I heard Kimbra for the first time, and made me curious to find out more about this New Zealand born and raised singer/songwriter.
She’s not just some new kid on the block. At age 10 she started writing songs, and merely two years later she performed the national anthem before a 27.000 people counting audience at a rugby final.
Her first single from the debut album VOWS was already released in 2010. Thanks to the success of her collab with Gotye -the song reached #1 in 8 countries around the world- Kimbra’s career also speeded up a notch, and she was awarded ‘One to Watch’by Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year.
More about Kimbra, including tour dates can be found on her website.
