If Linda Fargo (buyer for Bergdorf and Goodman, TD) is a fan, then it’s worth keeping an eye on this designerduo I came across on Fashion TV the other day. The two ladies from Cushnie et Ochs describe their designs as sexy and severe. All true, the razorsharp silhouettes are sleek and chic with a lot of peek-a-boo effects.Graduating from Parsons, designduo Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs are already referred to as the new Proenza Shouler. They won the Designer of the Year award, and fashionistas are craving their minimalistic, body-con dresses.
For Fall 2010 they’ve matched the body-con with a little volume in the shape of a grit coloured knit jacket with fox fur sleeves, or a knitted dress with knit swirls on the shoulders and a coat with a large grey fox running from collar to mid-thigh.
Crinkled leather pants and jackets, perforated leather skirts and marabou feathered tops were also on the menu, as well as ponyhair and velvet wedges in collaboration with Alejandro Ingelmo.
We were a little less fond of the red eye make-up that looked like the models caught some nasty virus…Nevertheless, the Cushnie et Ochs ladies have conquered a place on our wishlist with their meticulous designs.
