Dinner @ Bo Cinq

Watch out, chef. There are some high heeled bloggers in the kitchen!

Last Monday we had a bloggers dinner in Amsterdam hotspot Bo Cinq (near the Leidseplein). A great place we’ve been before for drinks & bites, but not for dinner. So we were really excited about this evening. Our schedule: cooking our own meal, eating it and make our own cocktails.

Unfortunately the chef said that we were running out of time (maybe we sat to long at the bar drinking cocktails…), so we only had to put the shrimps on the grill. That’s all… But hey, this starter tasted the best. Afterwards we had to make our own Mojito’s during the cocktail workshop. Digi E. made a Strawberry Heaven Mojito with mint, lemon, strawberry and blueberries. Digi K. went for a hint of chocolate-syrup, a little bit of cinnamon on top and red peppers as decoration hers (a wink to the morroccan kitchen of Bo Cinq). Heavenly.

They marinated the veal tajine with this sauce

Menu
Starter: Grilled tiger prawns with harissa hollandaise and parsley salad (delicious and a little bit spicy)
Main course: Veal shank tajine with chickpeas, fresh figs, plums, candied onions and lemon with couscous (jummie!)
Dessert: A trio of a macaroon sprinkled with sugar syrup and lavender seeds, walnut mousse and a caramel fudge brownie.

We had a lovely cozy dinner. The starter was a bit too much so we’re a little bit stuffed when the main courses arived on the table. The veal taijine was very good and very tasty (they marinate it for two days) but also a little bit too much (that didn’t stop Digi E. and Digi K for eating their whole plate…). The dessert was good but nothing special. We’ll definitely come back soon. A message for Bo Cinq: next time we want to cook for real!
