After Gaultier’s corsetted bottle and Viktor & Rolf’s upside down bottle, Piper Heidsieck asked -the God of Shoes- Christian Louboutin, to design the new ‘exclusive’ bottle of the reknown champagne house.
For this exclusive collaboration we travel back in time towards a tradition of the 18th century: drinking champagne from a woman’s shoe.
Baroness Staffe wrote about this ritual in her Guide du Savoir Vivre in 1889: After dancing the Mazurka the Polish toasted to good health of their partner by drinking champagne from her boot.
Louboutin designed a shoe made of Slovenian handblown crystal, with a 14 cm heel , and ofcourse the famous red sole. The bottle als has a bright red label to make a perfect match with the shoe.
Although several media have already picked up on the buzz of this collaboration, Amsterdam was the first city where the bottle and crystal shoe were presented. Next on the list are (among others) Restir in Tokyo and Colette in Paris.
