At the end of summer it became clear that oversized coats would become the trend for coming winter. It all began with the hype of the Jil Sander Pink Pastel Coat, an item I noticed during one of many Pinterest inspiration sessions. The pink coat trend turned fast in ‘an oversized coat trend’, which turned into ‘the new winter jacket’. All I can say about this: ‘oh my god, yes!’ Obviously this trend is made for me. No longer dull feminine trench coats, indeed, it is time for the heavenly, way too big, oversized coats!
Fashion twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are a great example of this unique take on laid-back luxe with their endless collection of oversized coats. They give a masculine twist to their look but yet they remain fashionable. The trick is not to make it sloppy. Specific details can make or break your outfit. For example don’t go all the way colorwise or combine your oversized coat with some feminine shoes like pumps or ankle boots. Also some refined jewelry can do a lot for your look.
Zara has a great jacket collection this season, for example this really amazing checked coat. Checks refers to English heritage, and they give your look an authentic and classy feel.
