Digitalistic tunes: El Rod – Art Nouveau: Deluxe

© El Rod

We introduced El Rod a little while ago. So we’ll skip the introduction this time, because you can read it here. But we do want to keep you updated about what this ‘out-of-the-box’ artist has been up to. He has released an EP this summer, named Art Nouveau, in conjunction with jeanslabel Wrangler. Now a Deluxe version of the EP has been presented, from which the single ‘She likes it’ has an actual video. The first one in a set of visuals that will be released.

Lowlands 2011: Converse, camping & friends

© Daisy Komen Photography

Time flies when you’re having fun. Last weekend it was Lowlands-time again. But slightly different than the past years for Digi K. This time she really went camping… There has to be a first time for everything, right? For 2,5 days she wandered around the Lowlands-premises on her All Stars Converse. Having fun with her friends, watching bands and artists perform like The Roots, Lykke Li and Jamie Woon, and chilling at the Converse Compound.

Digitalistic style: Jessie J

Found another girl with a Digitalistic style we definitely agree on! British singer/songwriter Jessie J. Quote: “Style to me is what makes you feel comfortable. I’ve always said that style should not have a brand. I don’t think style should be not about how much money you wear on your back or your shoes, or…I just think it should be an artistic or creative outlook on who you wanna look like.”

Supporting our local heroes: El.Rod & Abstract release debut single “Picky” online

Meet Roger, a guy we see once in a while somewhere in Amsterdam during a presentation or fashion show. He introduced himself to us as a musician. Of course we wanted to hear something, but no, we had to wait. Not for a week or a month…nooo, we waited at least for a whole year! And every time we bumped into him, he promised us we will be the first ones to publish his song. So, loosen your hips  ladies en gents and listen to the  first debut single ‘Picky’ of El.Rod & Abstract. “It’s cool for a man to say ‘no’ to a woman”

A nice music tip for our Dutch readers: the club tour of Gare du Nord. A sexy jazz band from the Netherlands.  They’ve got some steamy jazz songs which not only the hardcore jazz fan will adore. Digitalista. M just bought their CD Sex ‘n Jazz and plays it almost every night to get relaxed before she goes to sleep. On October 2th she will also visit one of their concerts at Tivoli in Utrecht. Do you want to see them performing live as well? Check their website now for the Dutch Club Tour schedule. For now, we give you a little sneak of what you can aspect on stage. Love it!

Emilie Simon: the French Kate Bush

A few years ago I bought a CD (yes, I still buy CD’s from time to time) from Emilie Simon. Her first album. The one where she has ladybugs all over her. It was after I heard a great remix of one of her songs, Desert. Unfortunately the remix was not on the CD, but her fragile voice captured me. I thought by myself: “we’re not done hearing from this girl”.

Digitalistic tunes: energetic Matt & Kim from Brooklyn

Mat & Kimm at Hilfiger Denim Live

Last week at the very cool Hilfiger Denim Live party in Paradiso Amsterdam, I spotted Matt & Kim (a music-duo from Brooklyn) for the first time. I immediately fell in love with those guys. They rocked the club with their energy-filled performance like nobody else did! Especially Kim drew my attention. This small girl on drums, hit her drumsticks like another day would never come. And the best was, she had an amazing smile on her face all night long! She and her friend Matt had so much fun on stage that me and my friends went crazy on the dance floor. I liked it so much! To get in the right mood this morning, hereby one of their songs; Daylight.  Watch, listen en then fall in love…

Lady Gaga's best gay-friends: Semi Precious Weapons

Meet some motherf*ckers from New York City: Semi Precious Weapons. The support act of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour. We saw them performing live yesterday at the Gaga Concert and where a little in shock. Especially by the lead singer. Think: Perez Hilton gay but then a little bit thinner, with a cool rock voice but wearing nude tights, golden high-heels and a tong at the seem time. Gay Glam-Rock like you never seen it before…
