I’ve been craving beetroot lately and on a whim just created this recipe! It took about three minutes to throw it together and the results are fabulous (if I say so myself). It’s perfect on this warm summer night when heating the oven was out of the question.
I am a huge fan of buckwheat flour. It is very healthy because it has high nutritional value and is high in fibers. It is also gluten-free, so it’s suitable for people with gluten intolerance. Buckwheat has a distinct nut-like taste, different from other kinds of flour. The taste is probably due to the fact that it is an herb (the plant ‘Fagopyrum exculentum’), instead of a grass species.
Even though the weather wasn’t very summery, for my birthday last week I made a summertime favourite recipe: IceBox Cake. The lightweight egg cake is SO delicious mixed with a creamy pineapple frosting. My party guests absolutely loved the cake – and I’m sure you will too!
While on holidays last week in Ottawa, Canada, I stumbled upon an adorable cupcake store that’s aptly named The Flour Shoppe. It was grey and rainy outside so I couldn’t help but make my way in, then picked up cupcakes as a small treat for my best friend (and host during my holiday).
We tasted some of the delicious hot choc dips of the Chocolate Company last Sunday. And we’re addicted. Only for real chocolate lovers. It tastes like heaven, chocolate heaven!
