In the NOW: Veuve Clicquot Rich for champagne cocktails

VC_Rich5With Summer on its way, new refreshing drinks and cocktails are always welcoming. So is Veuve Clicquot Rich; a champagne ready to be mixed.

Regarding history -when wines were mixed to acquire a sweeter taste- Veuve Clicquot stays in the tradition with Rich but with an innovative take. The higher dosage of Veuve Clicquot Pinot Noir signature is balanced with the fresh, and gourmand flavours of the Meunier, a combination which elevates the fruitiness.VC_rich1


Veuve Clicquot Rich was especially developed for mixology, or actually ‘Clicquology’ as the ritual to a perfect serve are referred to. Together with mixologists a few ingredients were selected to pair with the champagne and give it an unique twist, such as cucumber, the zest of a grapefruit peel, pineapple, peppers or tea. To cater to different tastes, these ingredients are divided in three categories: fruity -pineapple or grapefruit, fresh -cucumber or peppers, elegant – tea. Served with a lot of ice!


Last week we got to experience ‘Clicquology’ with a masterclass (including delicious bites) at Izakaya. It turns out we have 2 favorites: grapefruit and cucumber. See the recipes below to find out how to make them:


Grapefruit’s aciditywill break the sweetness and bring a round freshness to the wine. Citrus aromas already exist in Veuve Clicquot Rich, they will clearly be boosted with this ingredient.

•Place 5 ice cubes in a large wine glass
•Add and press one large zest of grapefruit
•Finish with chilled Veuve Clicquot Rich


Cucumber contains a lot of water, it will bring a strong freshness to the wine and a thirst quenching feeling. Cucumber will break the sweetness of the wine.

•Place 5 ice cubes in a large wine glass
•Add 3/4 slices of cucumber
•Finish with chilled Veuve Clicquot
