October is the one year anniversary of the art’otel and 5&33 Amsterdam, and they’re celebrating with a whole month of special activities! From wine tasting to DJ spinning, movie nights, G&T seminars and ADE parties, there’s a great schedule of events in the works – check it out here.
I joined the birthday festivities last weekend at a special pilates class offered in their art gallery. Classes are free for hotel guests, which is ideal – who doesn’t need a good stretch and workout after a long journey?
The pilates class was taught by an instructor from the art’otel’s Active Club, which is a small but modern health club with a personalized approach to working out. In fact, members are paired with a personal trainer for EVERY workout, to keep you on track to achieving your health goals. Facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, Finnish sauna, beauty center and solarium.
The class was a fantastic workout and stretch for my muscles – and let me tell you, I could feel the burn the next day! Pilates focuses on building your core strength through a series of mat exercises. The class also had an element of fun to it – no stuffy silence, but a lot of laughter as we all tried (and sometimes failed) so complete the postures.
5&33 is a restaurant, lounge, bar, library, lounge and gallery in the center of Amsterdam (literally steps from Centraal Station). If you haven’t done so already, you should definitely stop by their ultra-cool lounge for chic cocktails and bites –the perfect venue for a girls night out.
If art and culture is your thing, the 5&33 gallery is a must-visit. Their current exhibition is “Mag – The Art of Magazine Photography.” The hotel is also a tribute to the art of Atelier van Lieshout, which can be found in every corner of the building.
The art’otel and 5&33 is located at Prins Hendrikkade 33.
