Spending our summers in the South of France means we’re very familiar with espadrilles. Each year we bought a new pair in a different color, because that’s all the choice we had. The canvas and rope slippers have become a true fashion hit this season, and now they are also available in array of prints.
We particularly like those from The Old House, a venture of three creative friends: Bibi (Sculptress, Jewelry Designer), Gugi (Writer, Filmmaker) and James van der Velden (Interior Architect, Designer). Just like us, it reminds them of their childhood, and therefore they’ve created a collection of espadrilles with cool prints. Our three favorites are the Wink, Dandelion and Day & Night.
The espadrilles are all handmade in Spain and have double layering and stitching on the inside, and a thicker rubber sole to make them more durable. The outer is either made of (raw) recycled denim, reused army material, old postbags, biological cotton, plain canvas or biodegradable hemp.
You can purchase them at The Old House webshop, or at Denham stores for €79,99.
Which design is your favorite? Like The Old House’s Facebook page, share their Mail&Win and you could win two pair!
