Earlier this week we got pampered by Ron Blaauw and his cooking brigade. It was as if we were invited in Ron’s kitchen (the event was appropriately named ‘Kitchen Table’). All we had to do was take a seat and let him impress our tastebuds. And oh boy, he sure knows how to do that!
Before we reminisce about the amazing food we’ve got presented, a quick introduction of the Samsung Food ShowCase -which is the name of the fridge. It is an extremely smart fridge, developed after extensive research within families to pinpoint their specific requirements. This led to a premium designed and practical fridge, as the research’s outcome wasn’t very positive about the partition in the traditional refrigerators. The Food ShowCase is very organized. There are three compartments: the Cooking Zone (for fresh products directly in sight, such as milk, cheese eggs), the Family Zone (drinks, fruit), and the Kids Zone (in the lower compartment within reach for the kids). Tucked in deeper in the fridge is the InnerCase where products with longer storage life can be stored. Its design is based on the roomy American fridges and it also contains an ice cube machine. Read about all the additional features it has here.
Now let’s get back to the food. Prior to the diner we were treated to some delish ‘amuses’, but then came the fireworks (of the palate that is):
Sashimi of wild salmon with wasabi, sesame and soy pearls
Langoustine served with roasted season vegetables and a chorizo foam
BBQ Spare Ribs with beetroot and ‘Korenaar’ asparagus
Chocolate moeulleux with ice cream of whisky malt and elderberry, salted caramel and meringue crums
We were speechless…
