Good food makes us extremely happy. Combine that with an amazing venue at the Amalfi coast, and we’re even happier. During our trip with Villa Massa and to experience ‘the month of the lemon at its best’ we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Relais Blu in Massa Lubrense.
A feast of Italian Haute Cuisine, consisting of 6 (!) pre-dinner amuses to prepare our tastebuds for what was yet to come. Everything made with local produce (fish, cheeses, vegetables) and a hint of that flavoury Sorrento lemon.
Enjoying a limoncello cocktail ( Villa Massa limoncello, sugar syrup, fresh sanguinello juice, lemon juice from Sorrento and Campari) as an aperitif, these were the accompanying bites:
Tartara di Tonno ai Limoni ed erba cipolina
Tuna tartare with lemon and chives
Polpo arrosito con ricotta e verdure Primaverili
Octopus with ricotta cheese sauce and Spring time vegetables
Mantecato di Baccalà con piselli ed aria ai limoni
Cod fish mousse with peas and air of lemon
Insalata di carciofi con salsa ai limoni
Artichokes salad with lemon sauce
Zeppola ripiena di robbiola al limone
Puff pastry filled with Robiola cheese
Burrata con pomodorini e limoni canditi

Now it was time to move on to the three course dinner served in the dining room:

Sea Brass aromatized with chamomille, fennel and Spring time sauce
Soufflè ai limoni di Massa Lubrense con gelato alla crema

Imagine this dinner of royal proportions -specially prepared for the occasion- in the elegant Mediterranean setting of a boutique hotel, it left us in awe. Patron Salvatore Acampora is an expert in Campania cuisine, who uses innovative techniques for his preparations. It’s not surprising that Relais Blu is recommended as leading venue in this area.
