Human Beauty Amsterdam

4.Marijn WijsWhile on a Sunday stroll through the Jordaan, I stumbled upon a quaint little boutique on Eerste Tuindwarsstraat and was immediately drawn to the clean, cool vibe of the place.

After a bit of research, I discovered it’s Human Beauty, a unique concept shop and wellness centre in one, where specialty skincare and total-body health treatments are combined with a gorgeous gift shop.8.Marijn Wijs

Human Beauty’s skincare program is based on natural, holistic and organic treatments that make skin glow. Founder Jessica Wichers worked in the beauty industry for years, but was inspired to own her own skincare business where she could work with products without the nasty chemicals that many companies use today.

Jessica has handpicked the products she uses for treatments from brands Pai (vegan-friendly), Darphin (plant-based) and Earth Tu Face (100% natural). Each treatment is custom-catered to the individual’s skin and its needs, and Jessica will blend a bespoke mix of products just for you.

After I was lying below a warm blanket (and my feet tucked into cozy slippers!), my facial began with a skin analysis followed by cleansing, scrubbing, misting, extraction, calming masque and relaxing massage that had me dozing off to sleep! Jessica used a variety of Pai products for my sensitive skin, and I loved the natural scent of the creams and oils.

When the facial was over, my jaw dropped when I saw how great my skin looked – instead of having post-facial red splotches, it was totally calm and glowing. The Pai products are ultra-lightweight and didn’t leave my skin looking of feeling greasy; instead, it was soft, quenched and rejeuvinated.

The adorable Human Beauty store area sells organic skincare products, accessories, ceramic pieces, scarves, letter presses, jewelry and home accessories – I probably could have bought one of everything in the store! Human Beauty also offers massage, acupuncture and soul food coaching services from other trained professionals; it’s like a one-stop shop for all things health and wellness.
