Did you miss the Golden Globe Awards last Sunday? The red carpet was star-studded and packed with amazing hair and makeup looks – and one of my favorites was Kate Beckinsale. Her perfectly tousled messy bun was just the right complement to her silver sequin dress.
“With her wholesome English rose good looks, Kate can get away with quite a bit of edginess in her hairstyle, so we went with a punk-inspired diva look that’s a bit different from her usual soft flowing waves,” says hairstylist Sascha Breuer.
Want to get the look? Start by applying Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to the roots of damp hair, then blow-dry using a skeleton brush and use your fingers to add extra volume. The weightless mousse is designed to build body, plump fine hair and create a natural lift – without any residue or buildup.
Once the hair is dry, separate into a horseshoe shaped section (the part between both temples and your crown), and clip the top section away.
Pull the bottom section into a low, side ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic. Then coil and wrap the tail into a messy bun. You can even tug a few strands out to create naturally falling bits and to loosen the bun. Secure hair with bobby pins.
Take the hair from the top section and backcomb the roots using a round brush, to maximize the volume at the crown and create a slightly disheveled texture. Secure the top section into the existing, loose bun with bobby pins.
When complete, lightly spray Moroccanoil’s Luminous Hairspray Medium, to add hold and sine. Plus, the formula is infused with argan oil, which works to add healthy moisture to your hair.
Moroccanoil’s Volumizing Mousse is sold for €26,90 / 100ml, but with this product, a little goes a long way. Moroccanoil’s Luminous Hairspray Medium is sold for €24,30 / 330ml.
