The name means ‘my gem’ in French. And we can only agree that this hotel is a true treasure!
During my travels I often stay in very nice hotels, varying from classic 5 star venues, to design-and boutique hotels. Monbijou in the heart of Berlin Mitte is part of the last category but with the service and friendly staff of a 5 star hotel.
Monbijou is part of the Ming hotel group, and member of HIP Hotels. If you are looking for a cosy and luxe ‘at home’ feel during your stay in Berlin, this is your place to be!
While one of my contributors and I were visiting Berlin we only had 5 hours of sleep per night (busy discovering Berlin’s exhilirating nightlife), and back in the hotel we always felt like entering a relaxing sanctuary. Though our room wasn’t that big (I prefer a smaller room in which I feel at home, rather than a big room anyways), it had all the necessary (free WIFI!!) and some nice extras such as an iPod dock.
Furthermore, the hotel features a Bar & Restaurant, a cocktail lounge with fireplace, and also a calming courtyard and a roof terrace with a view of the Berliner Dom and the Scheunenviertel.
We were big fans of the tasty breakfast, you couldn’t have a better start of the day with all the yummy bread, delicious croissants, homemade confiture, scrambled eggs with bacon or smoked salmon, fresh fruit…etc. Or anything else you lust after can be made for you upon request. Need to get rid of the calories you took in at breakfast? No worries. There’s an in- house fitness centre and rental bikes are available for approximately €12 a day.
