Living in Holland, a good waxing studio can be hard to find. So, I’m sure you can imagine my excitement I saw that The Wax Bar has opened its newest location in Amsterdam.
The Wax Bar is a studio that offers full-body waxing using hot wax (it’s warm, gooey, and sticks to your hairs). Because it’s a dedicated waxing studio, the friendly staff really know what they’re doing – and how to wax properly! You can appreciate the importance of this for sensitive areas like your underarms, bikini line and face.
The studio is clean and comfortable, but there was one particular highlight of my Wax Bar experience: there are TV screens in the ceiling, so you can (literally) lay back and relax while having your treatment!
My waxer was super friendly, but also did a great breathing exercise with me during my treatment. It helped me to take my mind of the moments of discomfort when the hairs are removed — which, to be honest, doesn’t actually hurt that bad.
Considering switching from shaving to waxing? It’s not only healthier for your skin, but also has a major benefit: the hair doesn’t grow back as quickly. It’s fantastic when heading on holiday and you don’t want to worry about shaving your legs or bikini line every day.
While shaving only removes hair from the surface, waxing removes the entire hair while weakening the hair bulb. There’s almost no irritation afterwards (say goodbye to razor burn!) and the hair also grows back much thinner. So, every time you wax, the hair slips out more and more easily.
Waxing is also very easy to maintain with some easy at-home care. At The Wax Bar, you can find products from Outback Organics, an Australian skincare company made using organic, botanical ingredients. From “Bush Balm” to “Ingrown Hair Serum,” it’s very easy to keep skin healthy post-wax. The products smell great and truly work!
Don’t live in Amsterdam? The Wax Bar also has locations in Amersfoort, Rotterdam and The Hague. The Wax Bar also offers waxing for men!
