Loosing Hair?

Don’t be embarrassed – it happens to all of us. Losing hair as you comb out your locks is a natural, normal thing. But in a recent panic that I might be abnormal, I caught up with a hair care professional to ask about my situation.

“It’s normal to loose a bit of hair when you comb it out,” says Maaike van Winsen of Scruples Netherlands. “Keep in mind that with longer hair it always looks worse than it really is because it clogs a brush more quickly.” She recommends using a detangling spray or cream – try Scruples’ new Pearlscriptives Soothing Polish Conditioning Serum, which is alcohol-free and works to tame and de-frizz hair, while making it easier to manage.

Van Winsen also says Vitamin B6 or B12 supplements can help regulate hormones, which are often the cause of hair loss. The vitamins can also prevent ecaema, dandruff, dry scalp and psoriasis.

“If you loose a bit of hair when you wash, it’s normal and probably nothing to worry about,” she says. “We also shed more and less pending the season. However, if you experience more extreme hair loss for four to six weeks, consult your doctor.”
