Meet LUZ Bags & Accessoires (say: ‘Loez’), a new Dutch ‘less is more’ accessory brand featuring lovely leather bags, clutches, wallets, iPhone and iPad cases. A girl can’t have anough bags, right? Lovin’ it!
LUZ means ‘light’ and is inspired by the Balinese fabric ‘poleng’, a black and white checked cotton material often used by Balinese people to roll up sacred items like trees, rocks, statues and other important things for them to protect. The checked cotton material is a symbol for the two opposites ‘chaos and order‘. The Balinese often use these checked materials to remind themselves and others about the importance of a healthy balance between order and chaos. It’s a wink to a woman’s bag: it’s sacred for many women, we often try to keep it clean and balanced (but often it just isn’t, but we keep on trying!) and to protect it from pickpockets. If we have to believe the Balinese we’re protected from any malignant influences.
The first collection of LUZ includes the Alice Satchel, a cognac colored leather bag big enough for all of your stuff. The Marie Shopper is more simplistic and feminine and perfect for a day out of shopping. Our favorite is definitely the Isa Shoulder Bag which can also be worn as a clutch. All bags are available in cognac, grey, black and dark brown. Prices range from €149,95 (Isa) to €299 (Alice).
