Digitalistic Dilemma’s: Bibi van der Velden

Good news! From today on we’re gonna kick off a fabulous collab with Dutch webshop Welikefashion.com.

Some of you may know the To Wear It Well feature on We Like Fashion (WLF): every week a Dutch fashion professional is being featured with a (fashion/interior) shoot and interview (remember the feature with Digi E. a couple of weeks ago? Digi K. will be next!). To make it more fun you’ll find a backstage shoot of this feature and a short Q&A (the Digitalistic dilemma’s) on our website. That’s double fun!

We start our collaboration with some digitalistic dilemma’s from Dutch artist and jewelry designer Bibi van der Velden during the To Wear It Well feature.

Fashion or art?

“Fashion always has a certain synergy with art to provide the story behind the concept. Although art is rarely seen as ‘transitory’ like fashion is often considered. Of course trends exist in art as well, but I don’t let them influence me. Like always with trends you outgrow them really quickly.”

Dover Street Market or Liberty London?

“My collection is featured at Dover Street Market, so definitely DSM. Aside from that fact, I find it a very inspiring environment. The concept, the location, the people who work there, and, of course, the great stuff that’s being sold at DSM. Though Liberty is a very nice place as well, but I have never been such a fan of shop-in-shop concepts. Nevertheless, Liberty is one of my must-go’s when I visit London.”

Spectator or dancer?

“Definitely a dancer. Not a talker, but a dancer. When there is music, and sometimes even when there is none.”
