Aveda Day Spa

Just because a spa is eco-friendly, it doesn’t mean it’s synonymous with boring or bland. Proving the case is Amsterdam’s Aveda Dayspa, where “green” philosophies combine with luxurious settings, and eco-chic attitudes reign over nasty parabens and sulfates.

Near Amsterdam’s Olympic stadium, the Aveda Dayspa is an ecologically-savvy oasis that’s minutes from the city centre. Once you’re inside, the hustle and bustle of busy Amsterdam streets is quickly forgotten, and the spa’s calming, natural doctrine quickly takes over.

A slew of services cater to your beauty  needs, including waxing, Aveda facials, Caribbean manicures and pedicures and tropical body wraps. Massages will take  you on an instant trip to a foreign designation – the menu varies from chakra, deep tissue and Bedouin, to Thai herbal or Japanese  Anma.

“Our treatments start as a sensory journey,” says Marjolein de Swart, the spa’s co-owner and therapist. “Our ‘Purefessionals’ combine Oriental philosophies and Western techniques to obtain a physical and mental balance. Your chosen essential oils are added to the Aveda products we use for treatments.”

The spa is also expat friendly – it’s open from Monday to Thursday until 9:00 p.m. and Friday to Sunday until 6:00 p.m., plus staff speak fluent English. Click here to see a list of services or to make a reservation online.

The spa has two locations: Laan der Hesperiden 90 (1076 DX, Amsterdam) and Drossestraat 16 (2011 XW, Haarlem).
