The Digitalistas tried a Buddha to Buddha meditation session

‘Deadlines’ is probably the most stressful word in the world. And as a journalist you have to deal with deadlines every day. So when we found an invitation in our mailbox for a buddha2buddha meditation morning, we were very enthusiastic and curious at the same time. What could we expect from the meditation session set-up by the fashion jewellery brand known for the chunky silver bracelets?

During a meditation holiday in India in 1997, founder of Buddha to Buddha- Batul Loomans- drew his first sketch of a bracelet. In the beginning it was just for fun but popularity of his strong and solid jewellery turned it into a ‘serious business’. Now he owns a jewellery company which is internationally renowned and still growing substantially. With that in mind, we knew that mediation could do something very good with you. What would it bring us? Well, we found out. It brought us a relaxing, inspiring en above all, a very funny morning. Shaking your body like an idiot with colleagues you only know from sipping champaign at fashion party’s, is a very special experience…Believe us!

After drinking some orange juice and eating some strawberries and muffins, it was time to relax, Our mission? Finding our inner selves. How? By shaking our body for at least 15 minutes with our eyes closed. After that, we had to sit down on a small pillow and feel the energy flowing through our body.  Confession: It was very hard to block all the thoughts running through my head. ‘What shall I wear to my date I had planned that night? ‘and ‘When is my next deadline?’ Things like that. But, when I did my very best, I was able to meditate. To clear my mind and to feel the energy flow. Yes,  for a couple of minutes I floated in my own bubble. Damn, that felt good!

But then…then the funny part started. The Indian music went off, and we had to lay down on the ground in complete silence. What happened? People fell asleep and started snoring!!! You can imagine what happened next…a lot of suppressed giggles. Yes, my bubble cracked a part.

But afterwards, it felt like I just woke up from a very deep and peaceful sleep. Yes, it was a nice experience.  My Zen-mood was on and didn’t went off the whole day! Whoooeezaaa!
