The great Mario Testino is launching a new book. And it’s not all fashion this time…okay, some bikini-pics of Isabelli Fontana and Adriana Lima…Gisele Bündchen even contributed to the foreword, but it’s about the city Mario fell in love with at the age of 14: Rio de Janeiro.
He collected 15 years worth of photographs of the sexy Brazilian city and its sultry citizens. “I went to a more intimate side of Rio,” explains Testino. “A side that they only give me because they know me.”
The typical landmarks of the city play an important role in the book like Copacabana beach, the Sugarloaf mountain and the statue of Christ the Redeemer. His big inspiration was Bruce Weber’s ‘O Rio de Janeiro’ book. And Mario even rhymes with RIO. Enough reason to release his ninth book.
MaRIO DE JANEIRO Testino is released by Taschen, is a multilingual edition, costs €29,99 and can be purchased via the website.
