About certain things we wonder why they take so long to set ground in our city. Take the newly opened Foodhallen: a gathering of eateries (food court) with the look and feel of a market hall. A succesfull concept in many South-European countries
The initiators got the idea when they visited the San Miguel Food Hall in Madrid. Okay, so it might take some time to find the right spot and everything -and the Hallen-complex on the former tram depot is the ideal location- but why didn’t anyone come up with it years ago? Sure there must have been abandoned premises that would have been suitable to rebuild in function of a food court. Nevertheless, we’re happy to have them now!
We were at the opening and had a look (and taste) for ourselves. There’s a good variety of cuisines available, terrace-like tables and seats and several bars (plus bar seats) for the drinks. What’s nice about it is that it has a laidback athmosphere. You can wander around, taste different dishes, or just have a drink and a small snack if you feel like it.
