Ombré Hair, Courtesy Tony & Guy Haarlem

Tired of having the same old hair? I recently found myself totally bored with my look – I’d been getting nothing but blonde highlights since I was 16 years old. The result was over-processed, dry, split-ended hair that was in major need of a fresh look.

So, I ventured to Tony & Guy in Haarlem, where I presented my wild and crazy idea: jumping on board the ombré trend! My colourist, Tess, was totally up for the challenge and got to work on dying my hair using special see-through sheets instead of foils. The dip-dye look can be quite a challenge to achieve, as the colours must blend into one another. Tess was able to flawlessly fade my hair, making it go from brown at my roots to a honey blond at the tips, with variety in between.

I’d brought in a few images as models of the looks I was hoping for. Tess had also known I wanted ombré hair and saved images from Pinterest to see if I liked them – really an effort of her going the extra mile for me … to my surprise, as we’d never met before!

After letting the dye work its magic, my hair was washed and styled using Kerastase products (a line I love, and it’s available right at the salon for convenience). My recommended products come from the Chroma Captive collection, which works to protect hair colour.

Tony & Guy was the epitome of an ultra hip salon. All the stylists are chic and understand the latest trends. Music was pumping all afternoon with a great mix of tracks, and while my hair was processing I sipped fresh cappuccinos while reading a mix of the latest fashion mags. A trip to the hairdresser might not be everyone’s favourite activity, but I really didn’t mind spending my afternoon – and updating my look – at Tony & Guy Haarlem.
